The Stewards' Corner
Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. Race Decisions - April 19, 2013
RACE 1: Jockey’s Objection: The rider of # 5 Tycoon Cat (S. Camacho, Jr.) lodged an objection against the winner, # 6 Superiority (D. Cohen), for alleged interference in the stretch.
In the vicinity of the 1/8 pole, # 6 drifts in slightly, and # 5 alters course to the outside.
After reviewing the race films, the objection was dismissed and the race declared official as is.
RACE 7: Steward’s inquiry into the start of race 7 the # 1Kittylicious (E Castro) breaks then props abruptly after leaving the gate unseating the rider. No other horses were involved in the incident and the race is official as is.
