By Eric Wing | 09/14/2013 01:22 PM ET

Two of thoroughbred racing's most prominent handicappers and authors-Andrew Beyer and Steven Crist-will take part in a special handicapping seminar at Belmont Park from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21 in the North Shore Terrace, located on the fourth floor of the clubhouse. The event, to be hosted by NYRA handicapper and television personality Andy Serling, is free-to-attend with paid clubhouse admission.

Fans are encouraged to RSVP for the event here.  The first 200 people to register online will receive a free copy of one of Beyer's or Crist's bestselling handicapping books upon arriving at the seminar.

For the first hour of the seminar, Beyer and Crist will discuss a wide range of topics including their respective introductions to thoroughbred racing, how handicapping has changed over the years, and what horseplayers can do to maximize their success. The final half-hour of the session will be an informal period when attendees can meet Crist and Beyer, and engage in casual conversations.

"Andy Beyer and Steve Crist are two of the most influential handicappers and authors this sport has ever known, and together they have been responsible for generations of handicappers learning to approach our game more intelligently," said Serling. "Horseplayers of all ages and experience levels who attend on the 21st will be richly entertained and leave with ideas that can improve their skills."

Andrew Beyer, the longtime racing reporter columnist for the Washington Post, is the creator of the popular Beyer Speed Figures.  He has written several seminal handicapping books including the widely-read "Picking Winners: A Horseplayer's Guide" and "Beyer on Speed"

Steven Crist is the chairman and publisher emeritus of Daily Racing Form, where he has also served as a columnist since 1988.  Previously he covered racing for The New York Times and was the founding editor-in-chief of The Racing Times. Among his books are "Exotic Betting" and "Betting on Myself".
