Glen Kozak, NYRA's Vice President of Facilities & Racing Surfaces, is this week's guest on
Across the Board with Andy Serling, now available for download.
Kozak joined Serling on October 5 at Belmont Park for a discussion focusing on the recently completed project at Aqueduct Racetrack to renovate the main track and install
a second turf course.
"It was by far the biggest track construction project that has been done at NYRA since I arrived here. In nine years we have done renovations at all of the tracks,
but to put in a completely new surface, update the materials, the sprinkler system," Kozak said in the podcast. "We basically built two tracks in four and a half months, is what it amounts to."
From there, the conversation turned to Kozak's upbringing on a working farm in South Jersey leading to a career working at racetracks including stops at Monmouth Park,
Suffolk Downs, the Maryland Jockey Club and leading to Kozak's current role at NYRA overseeing and managing the facilities and racing surfaces at Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack and Saratoga Race Course.
