by Keith McCalmont

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) and Monmouth at Far Hills will partner to offer horseplayers an all-stakes Pick 4 on Saturday, October 20.

The Empire Showcase Day card from Belmont Park features eight stakes races for New York-bred horses including the featured $300,000 Empire Classic, a 1 1/8 miles dirt route for 3-year-olds and upward. The Empire Showcase card will be broadcast live on MSG and MSG + from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The 98th edition of the Far Hills Race Meeting, which will offer purses totaling a National Steeplechase Association record $900,000, will offer pari-mutuel wagering for the first time on the historic single-day New Jersey steeplechase meet.

The latest in NYRA's fall series of special Pick 4 Wagers, the Belmont-Monmouth at Far Hills Pick 4, includes the Grade 1 $450,000 Grand National Hurdle Stakes and the Foxbrook Champion Novice Hurdle from Monmouth at Far Hills along with the Empire Distaff and the Empire Classic stakes, from Belmont Park.

"This exciting offering provides a unique wagering opportunity with large fields for horseplayers to experience the best of Far Hills steeplechase racing while showcasing our New York-bred talent to a wider audience with the Empire Distaff and Empire Classic stakes taking center stage," said Joe Longo, NYRA's Director of Simulcasting. "We're thrilled to be a part of the first pari-mutuel wagering card at the Far Hills Race Meeting.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with NYRA and Monmouth Park in being able to combine two prestigious races from the Far Hills meet with a pair of New York-bred stakes from Belmont Park," said Guy Torsilieri, chairman of the Far Hills Race Meeting Association and President of the National Steeplechase Association. "The Grade 1, Grand National Hurdle Stakes, and the Foxbrook Champion Novice Hurdle will each feature competitive fields and we applaud the efforts of everyone involved at NYRA and Monmouth Park to partner with the steeplechase community in offering this unique wager to horseplayers."

Past performances for the Grand National Hurdle Stakes and the Foxbrook Champion Novice Hurdle will be included in the Saturday, October 20 Post Parade program, while past performances for the Empire Distaff and Empire Classic will be found in the Monmouth at Far Hills Saturday program.

The Belmont-Monmouth at Far Hills Pick 4, to be hosted by NYRA with a $0.50 minimum wager and 24 percent takeout, will be available on-track, to members of NYRA Bets as well as in simulcast facilities across the country.
