Belmont Park's first-ever Pick 5 carryover on tap Sunday

by NYRA Press Office

Sunday's live racing program at Belmont Park will feature a $254,319 Pick 5 carryover, marking the first such occurrence at Belmont since the low-takeout wager was introduced in 2013.

The carryover, worth more than a quarter of a million dollars, is just the second-ever at a New York Racing Association track. The first was on December 18, 2015 at Aqueduct Racetrack during the inner track meet, when a $162,853 carryover generated $1,229,447 in new money.

Saturday's Pick 5 carryover was triggered by a trio of high-priced winners, including Til We Meet Again's $34.60 victory to start the card on Preakness Day. Backofthemoon was a $35.80 winner in Race 3 and Bluegrass Jamboree paid $44.40 in Race 4. Broken Border ($8.30) closed out the sequence with a victory in Race 5.

Sunday's Pick 5, featuring a 50-cent minimum and low takeout of 15 percent, begins with the first race with a scheduled post time of 1:30 p.m. and will conclude with Race 5 on the day's nine-race card.

Wagering on the Pick 5, as well as all other wagering, is available through NYRA Bets, on-track, at Belmont Café, as well as simulcast facilities across the country.
