by Pat McKenna

The New York Racing Association reminds fans that the deadline for entering the Belmont Stakes $150,000 Sweepstakes is fast approaching, with the submission window closing on Friday, May 18 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Each ticket purchased to the 150th Belmont Stakes prior to the close of the entry window is accompanied by one sweepstakes entry, up to a maximum of 12. Through May 18, Belmont Stakes Day general admission is just $20.

In March, NYRA announced the launch the Belmont Stakes $150,000 Sweepstakes, an innovative promotion that will provide one lucky fan with the chance to earn $150,000 by picking the winner of the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 9.

"We're thrilled with the incredible fan response to the Belmont Stakes $150,000 Sweepstakes," said NYRA Senior Vice President & Chief Experience Office Lynn LaRocca. "The sweepstakes will add an entirely new element to Belmont Stakes Day, and we're looking forward to announcing the lucky winner in the coming days."

All current NYRA Bets members automatically receive five entries, provided the member has placed any wager through the platform prior to the entry deadline. Horseplayers not already using NYRA Bets can sign up today to receive five entries to the sweepstakes.

Additionally, the grand prize winner will reveal to a packed house at Belmont Park his or her selection to win the "Test of the Champion." Should that horse emerge victorious, the fan will take home $150,000.

In addition to earning the chance at $150,000, the grand prize winner is entitled to a premium VIP experience to the three-day Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, including hospitality, airfare and five nights of hotel accommodations in the New York City area.

Featuring the very best in thoroughbred racing alongside world-class entertainment and premium hospitality, the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, from June 7-9 at beautiful Belmont Park, has quickly become the most exciting way for sports fans to kick off the summer season in New York. Highlighted by the 150th running of the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes, the three-day event will feature 33 races, including 18 stakes, offering more than $10 million in purses.

NYRA recently announced that Third Eye Blind will headline the entertainment lineup for the 2018 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival. The Festival will also include a Belmont Stakes Day performance from the hit Broadway musical "A Bronx Tale" as well as a Friday, June 8, performance from acclaimed Billy Joel tribute band Big Shot
