Live Racing at Belmont Park canceled for Sunday, July 1

By order of the Stewards, the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has canceled Sunday's live racing card due to extreme heat.

NYRA made every effort to run today's card as scheduled. A spike in afternoon temperatures prior to the first post made conditions unsuitable for racing.

Belmont Café and Aqueduct Racetrack will remain open for simulcasting. Online wagering is also available at NYRABets.com.

Sunday's featured stakes race, the $100,000 Saginaw for New York-bred 4-year-old will be rescheduled for a later date.

Live racing is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, July 4 at Belmont, with a first post of 1:30 p.m.

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced plans for the future utilization of the all-weather Tapeta track at the new Belmont Park. Currently under construction and expected to be completed in Q2 of 2025, the one-mile oval will become the exclusive winter racing surface on the NYRA circuit when the Belmont facility re-opens in 2026.
