by NYRA Press Office

Yoenis Céspedes, an All-Star outfielder for the defending National League-champion New York Mets, will visit Belmont Park to meet with the Michael Dubb and Michael Imperio-owned 2-year-old named in his honor.

Cespedes, bred in New York, made his debut on August 29 at Saratoga Race Course and is trained by Rudy Rodriguez and ridden by jockey Javier Castellano.

Céspedes, who led the Mets to the 2015 National League pennant and has hit at least 20 home runs in all five of his major league seasons, will be on hand to meet the connections of Cespedes, a 2-year-old chestnut colt.

Among those also in attendance will be Cespedes' trainer, Rudy Rodriguez, co-owners Michael Dubb and Michael Imperio, Cespedes' regular jockey Javier Castellano and Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez.
