Pick 6 Carryover of $43K into Saturday’s card at Belmont Park
by Mary Eddy
Saturday’s card at Belmont Park will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $43,523 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s nine-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $763.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
The sequence kicked off in Race 4 with Baba [No. 2, $7.60] taking a starter allowance with apprentice Jose Gomez in the irons for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. Race 5 saw the Christophe Clement-trained stakes winner Mischievous Dream [No. 4, $5.80] score an optional claiming victory by a half-length over the Widener turf.
The Sal Iorio, Jr. trainee No Chalk [$26.60] lived up to her name in Race 6 and upset the state-bred allowance over the main track with Kendrick Carmouche in the irons.
Fast N Fearious [No. 4, $11.20] earned his second victory in a row in Race 7 for trainer Rob Atras and came home a one-length winner under Dylan Davis in the $50,000 claimer before Fouette [No. 3, $20.60] upset the penultimate leg of the sequence in Race 8 with Irad Ortiz, Jr. up to earn an optional claiming victory for trainer Linda Rice.
With only two horses covered in Race 9, Tempermental [No. 2, $8.70] triggered the carryover with an off-the-pace victory under Jose Ortiz to break her maiden for a $40,000 tag for trainer Jeremiah Englehart.
Saturday’s Pick 6 begins in Race 5 [3:03 p.m. Eastern]. First post for the 10-race card, which features the Grade 3, $100,000 Soaring Softly in Race 9, is 1 p.m.
