Pick 6 Carryover of $81K into Sunday’s card at Belmont Park

by Mary Eddy

Sunday’s card at Belmont Park will be bolstered be a Pick 6 carryover of $81,453 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s program.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $5,430 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

Saturday’s sequence kicked off in Race 5 with the royally bred Adversity [No. 3, $13.20] returning victoriously from a seven-month layoff to take a 6 1/2-furlong state-bred allowance with Kendrick Carmouche up for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse.

The Orlando Noda-trained Snow Loves a Fight [No. 6, $11.40] gave her conditioner his second of two wins on the card when she broke her maiden sprinting seven furlongs over the turf with Irad Ortiz, Jr. up in Race 6

Southern District [No. 3, $5.50] won his second race in a row under Manny Franco for trainer Chad Brown, taking an optional claimer going 1 1/16 miles over the main track in Race 7.

Sackatoga Stable’s Saratoga Flash [No. 7, $17] made his first start as a gelding to give trainer Barclay Tagg a 1 1/16-mile turf state-bred allowance victory off a five-month layoff with Dylan Davis up in Race 8.

The carryover was triggered when Scuttlebuzz [No. 5, $33], ridden by Hall of Famer Javier Castellano, upset the featured Elusive Quality in Race 9 for trainer Rudy Rodriguez with a flying finish down the stretch to win his third race in a row.

With the carryover already guaranteed entering the final leg, Tap’n de Bank [No. 4, $20.80] broke his maiden in Race 10 sprinting 6 1/2-furlong over the dirt against fellow New York-breds under Hall of Famer John Velazquez for trainer Brad Cox.

Sunday’s Pick 6 sequence will begin in Race 4 at 2:41 p.m. Eastern and includes the $100,000 License Fee in Race 8. First post for the nine-race card is 1:00 p.m.
