Pick 6 carryover of $43K on Friday at Belmont Park
by Mary Eddy
Friday’s card at Belmont Park will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $43,810 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Thursday’s nine-race card.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $521.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
The sequence kicked off in Race 4 with Act of Congress [No. 9, $6.20*] taking a six-furlong starter allowance on the inner turf with Jose Ortiz in the irons for trainer Bruce Levine. Race 5 saw the George Weaver-trained Please Advise [No. 7, $10.20] graduate at first asking in a five-furlong turf maiden under Jose Lezcano, one race before the Jose Ortiz-piloted Gun It [No. 1A, $5.40] picked up his first win in nearly two years for trainer Linda Rice in Race 6.
The Rudy Rodriguez-trained Daufuskie Island [No. 6, $4.30*] notched his third consecutive victory with a six-furlong optional claiming score under Trevor McCarthy in Race 7. The biggest upset on the card came in Race 8 as the Jose Camejo-trained Tryinmyheartout [No. 2, $87] did just that under Jason Huayas to hold off the late charge of Lifelovenlaughter to win a 1 1/16-mile optional claimer on the inner turf.
With just two horses covered in the final leg, the Tom Morley-trained Sonic Speed [No. 9, $17.20] stormed home to win Race 9, a $35,000 claiming tilt, and give McCarthy his second win on the card.
Friday’s Pick 6 will kick off in Race 4 at 2:38 p.m. Eastern. First post is 1:05 p.m.
