Teodoro streaks into $75K William Entenmann

by NYRA Press Office

Rosbrian Farm's Teodoro brings impressive recent form into Wednesday's $75,000 William Entenmann, a 2 1/4-mile jumps event at Belmont Park.

Trained by Richard Hendriks, the 5-year-old Teofilo chestnut has made just three starts over hurdles, winning his last two attempts by 12 and 33 ¾-lengths respectively under jockey Ross Geraghty.

Teodoro captured the Group 3 Rose of Lancaster over a flat 1 5/16-miles in August 2018 at Haydock for trainer Thomas Dascombe. Two starts later, Teodoro shipped to Belmont where he ran fifth in the Grade 1 Turf Classic over soft going.

Teodoro was transferred to trainer Tom Morley for the final two starts of his flat racing career before joining the barn of his current conditioner, who said he has flourished over the jumps.

"He's really taken to it," said Hendriks. "We took him from New Orleans to Camden, South Carolina. Ross Geraghty was there and put him through the paces and he took right to it."

Following a second to Entenmann rival Sportswear in his jumps debut over soft going at Glenwood Park at Middleburg, Teodoro dominated a Fair Hill maiden on the engine under Geraghty. Last out, in a 2 3/8-miles allowance event at Saratoga, Teodoro opened up a 20-length advantage at first call and continued to widen his lead with ease.

"He jumped erratically that first day but he still finished second," said Hendriks. "At Fair Hill, he jumped extremely well. He really loved the firm ground and Ross gave him a beautiful ride.

"At Saratoga, it was a pretty impressive performance," continued Hendriks. "He jumped very well that day. I think, with experience, the more he jumps the more relaxed he'll get."

Geraghty has the return engagement from post 4.

Hendriks will also saddle Veneer of Charm for Rosbrian Farm. The 5-year-old Fast Company gelding is a veteran of 11 starts over the jumps with two wins and one second to his credit.

"He's training good and really feeling good which is why we decided to run him," said Hendriks. "He ran the other day at Delaware and didn't get beat that far. He won a nice race as a 4-year-old at Cheltenham for Gordon Elliott. He has some back class, it's just a matter of getting it out of him."

Jack Doyle will ride from post 5.

Jonathan Sheppard will saddle Sportswear for owners KMSN Stable. The 4-year-old Frankel gelding is perfect in two starts over the jumps including a last-out allowance win at Percy Warner.

Gerard Galligan has the call from post 2.

Irving Naylor's Chief Justice has banked a field best $120,783 over the jumps with five wins and three seconds from 11 starts. The 4-year-old Acclamation gelding won at 2 1/16-miles at Aintree in April for then trainer Elliott Gordon, ahead of a closing fourth in his North American debut in the Marcellus Frost Champion Hurdle in May at Percy Warner.

Chief Justice, since transferred to the care of Cyril Murphy, will be guided from the inside draw by Graham Walters.

Rounding out the field are Arch My Boy (Kieran Norris, post 3), City Dreamer (Sean McDermott, post 6), Cracker Factory (Michael Mitchell, post 7), and Snap Decision (William McCarthy, post 8.)

The William Entenmann is slated as Race 1 on Wednesday's 8-race card, which also features the $150,000 Joseph A. Gimma in Race 7. First post is 3 p.m.
