$150,000 6 Furlongs F3YO (Dirt)
Fans have become accustomed to Todd Pletcher dominating the New York circuit, but that had to start somewhere. That was in 1998 with the Ackerly Brothers’ outstanding 3-year-old Jersey Girl, who gave Pletcher his first New York graded stakes win in the Cicada (G3) at Aqueduct Racetrack. She would go on to provide Pletcher with his first three G1 victories, carrying Mike Smith to the wire in Belmont’s Acorn and Mother Goose, followed by the Test at Saratoga. Jersey Girl’s influence continued to be felt in New York through her son, Jersey Town, winner of the G1 Cigar Mile and G2 Kelso.
