by Alyssa Salig

2017 credential application process closes on July 7

The New York Racing Association, Inc. would like to formally invite members of the media to apply for credentials for the 2017 summer meet at historic Saratoga Race Course.

The 40-day meet, which includes 69 stakes worth $18.775 million in purses, will run from Friday, July 21, through Labor Day, Monday, September 4. After opening weekend, racing will be conducted six days a week, Wednesdays through Mondays.

Members of the media who already have been issued a yearly credential DO NOT need to reapply.

The credential application can be accessed at http://credentials.nyra.com

All credential requests should be submitted no later than Friday, July 7. Applications received after that date will not be accepted.

Professional news organizations and media outlets are encouraged to submit one collective application for all attending employees. For freelance journalists and photographers, the application must be submitted by an assigning editor or editor-in-chief at a professional news organization or media outlet.

A head shot is required for each applicant, as well as a letter of assignment from the assigning editor or editor-in-chief. Proof of insurance, where applicable, will also be required.

Please note that media credentials may be picked up in person at the Saratoga press office, beginning Wednesday, July 19, between noon and 4 p.m. Credentials for an entire outlet may be picked up by a designated point person.

Saratoga season media credentials must be secured and visibly displayed at all times for admittance to Saratoga Race Course. Media credentials are valid for parking in the employee lot near the Oklahoma training track.
