Pick 6 carryover of $154K into Saturday’s card at Saratoga Race Course
by Keith McCalmont
Saturday’s card at Saratoga Race Course will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $154,728 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s 10-race card.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $3,223.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Friday’s sequence kicked off in Race 5 as Kendrick Carmouche picked up the first of two wins in the sequence by guiding the Michelle Nevin-conditioned Ori [No. 9, $23] to victory in a maiden claiming turf route.
Irad Ortiz, Jr., who won four races on the card and two races in the sequence, guided the Mike Maker-trained Under Who’s Radar [No. 1, $14] to victory in Race 6, a 5 1/2-furlong sprint for 2-year-old New York-bred maidens.
Critical Threat [No. 8, $14] scored in Race 7, a six-furlong claiming sprint, with Luis Rivera, Jr. up for trainer Robert Falcone, Jr., one race before the Jose Ortiz-piloted and Philip Bauer-trained Princess Madison [No. 9, $6.40*] out finished Roswell to win a six-furlong allowance sprint in Race 8.
The Chad Brown-trained and Ortiz, Jr.-ridden Root Cause [No. 10, $6*] won gate-to-wire in Race 9 to best her rallying stablemate Child of the Moon in a turf allowance route.
With only four horses covered in the Race 10 finale, a 5 1/2-furlong Mellon turf sprint for New York-bred maiden fillies and mares, Carmouche guided the Horacio De Paz-trained Aunt Yola [No. 8, $51.50] to a narrow score over the favored Geopolitics to confirm the carryover.
Saturday’s Pick 6 begins in Race 7 at approximately 3:54 p.m. Eastern. First post on the 12-race card, which features the Grade 3, $175,000 Lake George [Race 10] and Grade 1, $500,000 Coaching Club American Oaks [Race 11] is 12:35 p.m. Eastern.
