Stewards Corner

Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. Race Decisions - July 23, 2014

Race 3: Steward’s Inquiry and Jockey’s Objection:  Rosie Napravnik, the rider of # 6 Pretty Fancy, lodged a claim of foul against # 5 Got Lucky (John Velazquez) and # 4 Madaket Millie (Javier Castellano) for alleged interference in the stretch.   In the vicinity of the 1/16 pole, # 6 steadies briefly between #’s 5 and 4.  # 1 Unbridledexplosion (Brian Hernandez, Jr.) closes strongly on the far outside to finish second, with # 6 Pretty Fancy finishing fourth, one length behind # 4.   The objection was disallowed and the race declared Official as is.
