A tradition stretching back to the mid-19th century will continue at historic Saratoga Race Course with the 151st running of the Grade 1, $1 million Runhappy Travers on Saturday, August 8. The country’s top 3-year-olds will compete in the 1 1/4-mile “Mid-Summer Derby” that will, for the first time in its history, offer qualifying points to the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby, with 100-40-20-10 points available to the top-four finishers for the “Run for the Roses” on September 5.
The Travers has featured a slew of Hall of Famers, champion horses and divisional winners since its first running in 1864. In total, 21 Travers winners have been named champion 3-year-old colt or gelding. Nine winners went on to be named Horse of the Year as a sophomore, including Triple Crown-winner Whirlaway in 1941 and fellow Hall of Famers Granville, Sword Dancer, Buckpasser, Damascus, Arts and Letters, Holy Bull and Point Given. The list of all-time greats who ran in the Travers but did not win is equally as lofty, featuring Triple Crown-winners Affirmed in 1978 [who crossed the wire first but was disqualified for interfering with declared-winner Alydar] and American Pharoah in 2015, who each finished second.

The menu is continually evolving. We are excited to introduce an amazing selection of wines from the best small producers. Based on local products and seasonal specialties, the menu is a culmination of thirty (30) years of expertise as well as experience cooking (and eating) with a great number of amazing individuals. With each new day, we pay respect to our past, while embracing innovative concepts and ideas. Whenever possible, we source products locally and use family-owned purveyors.
