Pick 6 carryover of $14K on Saturday at Belmont at the Big A
Saturday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $14,387 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s eight-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $2,271.71 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Friday's Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 3 with a win from Art Fair [No. 3, $7.96] in a six-furlong claimer for dual Eclipse Award-winning trainer Brad Cox and rider Jaime Rodriguez, who earned his second win of the day.
In Race 4, a one-mile allowance on the inner turf, the Thomas Proctor-conditioned Pop Art [No. 1, $8.78] rallied to victory for jockey Kendrick Carmouche. The next race saw conditioner David Jacobson send out Ocean Ripple [No. 2, $10.18] to a hard-fought win in a 1 1/16-mile outer turf maiden claimer with Hall of Famer Javier Castellano in the irons, in Race 5.
In Race 6, a state-bred six-furlong allowance, Ricardo Santana, Jr. visited the winner’s circle aboard Projectability [No. 6, $20.08] for trainer Linda Rice’s second win of the day. In Race 7, a one-mile starter optional claimer on the inner turf, the Barclay Tagg-trained New York-bred North End Lady [No. 3, $7.16*] proved best in open company with Dylan Davis in the saddle.
With the carryover already guaranteed before the Race 8 finale, a six-furlong starter optional claimer on the outer turf, Castellano notched a riding double by navigating Bite and Strike [No. 2, $20.28] to victory, giving Rice a training triple.
