Pick 6 carryover of $33K on Sunday at Belmont at the Big A
Sunday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $33,405 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s 10-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $278.38 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Saturday’s sequence kicked off in Race 5, a seven-furlong claiming sprint, as Jackie the Joker [No. 3, $11.24] went to the front and would not be caught under an aggressive ride from Ricardo Santana, Jr. for trainer James Ferraro.
Versailles Road [No. 7, $66.24], at odds of 32-1 under Manny Franco for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher, also used frontrunning tactics to prevail over the 8-5 favorite Gold Sovereign in Race 6, an 11-furlong maiden special weight on the inner turf.
The frontrunning winners continued in Race 7, the featured $150,000 Paradise Creek, as Intricate Spirit [No. 3, $5.40*] showed the way in the six-furlong outer turf sprint with Franco up for trainer Miguel Clement.
The Pletcher-trained Classicist [No. 7, $4.68*], with Hall of Famer John Velazquez aboard, stalked and pounced to victory in Race 8, a nine-furlong allowance optional-claiming route. One race later, Franco completed a hat trick of wins as the Rob Atras-trained Carc Brothers [No. 11, $6.50*] dominated Race 9, a 1 1/16-mile claiming route over the inner turf.
With the carryover already confirmed heading into the Race 10 finale, the Dylan Davis-piloted Shape Note [No. 6, $13.40] proved best for trainer Mike Maker with a prominent score in the six-furlong optional-claiming sprint over the outer turf.
Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 4 at approximately 2:36 p.m. Eastern. First post for the nine-race program is 1:10 p.m.
