Saratoga Race Course to host job fair for upcoming meet

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will host a three-day job fair on June 15-17 for those interested in working at Saratoga Race Course during the 2017 summer meet. 


The job fair will be held for the third consecutive year at the Saratoga Springs City Center, 522 Broadway, in downtown Saratoga Springs. Parking will be available in the adjacent lot on Maple Avenue. 
 
The 2017 summer meet at Saratoga Race Course will run from Friday, July 21 through Labor Day, Monday, September 4.
 
Opportunities are available for: administrative/office roles, bartenders, bets squad, betting clerks, box office, cashiers, chefs, cleaners, cooks, food service helpers and supervisors, general labor, giveaway helpers (part-time only), guest services, hosts/hostesses, mascots, parking attendants, porters and barbacks, prep cooks, program sellers, retail clerks, security, turf work, utility workers, wait staff, and whitecaps/ushers.  
 
Interviews will be conducted on Thursday, June 15 from 2 to 6 p.m.; Friday, June 16 from 2 to 6 p.m.; and on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
 
Positions are available with NYRA, Centerplate, Union Square Events, Integrated Staffing, Noor Staffing Group and American Maintenance. 
 
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age with New York State Certified Working Papers; prospective security guards, cashiers and betting clerks must be at least 18 years of age to apply. Limited opportunities exist for 15-year-old applicants. Betting clerks and cashiers must have significant cash handling experience. Security guards must have a high school degree or GED to apply. All applicants must bring a photo ID and social security card or I-9 alternative.

New York Racing Association generates record-breaking handle during 2017 meet at Saratoga Race Course

For the second time in the past three years, The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) set a record for all-sources wagering on racing at Saratoga, concluding the 2017 Saratoga meet with a handle of $676,709,490. The 2017 handle eclipsed the previous high set in 2015 by 4.4 percent and shattered the prior record set in 2012 by more than 15 percent.

Pick 6 carryover of $73,120 for Woodward Day at Saratoga Race Course

​There will be a $73,120 Pick 6 carryover at Saratoga Race Course on Woodward Day, with the sequence featuring four graded stakes. The multi-race wager begins Race 7 with an approximate post time of 4:26 p.m. ET. The sequence will include the Grade 3, $300,000 Saranac in Race 9, the Grade 1, $350,000 Spinaway in Race 10, the Grade 1, $750,000 Woodward in Race 11 and the Grade 3, $200,000 Glens Falls in the card's finale.
