The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced that applications for assistant trainer housing for the winter and spring/summer meets at Belmont Park are now open.

As part of the overall redevelopment of Belmont Park, NYRA further expanded its commitment to modernizing the barn area by completing the construction of two new dormitories along with a residence designed for assistant trainers working at the facility. Located adjacent to the pony track, the assistant trainer residence contains efficiency apartments available to qualified trainers for the exclusive use of their assistant trainers. All rent collected on these units will be donated to the NYRA Foundation.

The application for assistant trainer housing can be found at https://www.nyra.com/belmont/horsemen/.

To be eligible, the trainer must fill and maintain at least 15 stalls at Belmont Park during the requested occupancy period. Final approval is subject to the completion of a formal housing agreement which will fully outline all rules and conditions related to the use of assistant trainer housing at Belmont Park.

The application for 2026-27 winter meet is due November 1, 2026, while the application for the 2027 spring/summer meet must be submitted by March 15, 2027.

Overnight purses at the winter meet have been increased by 23 percent with more than $26 million in overnight purse money on offer. The average overnight purse will see a per-race increase of nearly 10 percent. Specific purse levels for the Belmont Park winter meet are published at https://www.nyra.com/belmont/racing/incentives/#overnightpurses.

The 2026-27 winter meet at Belmont Park will include 28 stakes races worth nearly $5.7 million in total purses. For the complete stakes schedule, please visit https://www.nyra.com/belmont/racing/stakes-schedule/.
