This week's Across the Board with Andy Serling podcast, featuring an interview with New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (NYTHA) president Joe Appelbaum, is now available for download.
Appelbaum joined Serling at Aqueduct Racetrack to discuss his origins in the sport, his time as a college football coach and the responsibilities of the NYTHA president within the overall ecosystem of thoroughbred racing in New York State.
Shortly after claiming his first horse in 1999, Appelbaum linked up with Carlos Morales to form Off The Hook in 2002. A breeding, racing and sales company with a farm and training center in Ocala, FL and offices in New York City, Off The Hook has experienced a string of pinhooking and racing successes.
A native New Yorkers, Appelbaum served his first term on the NYTHA Board from 2014-17 and was named NYTHA President in 2017.
