The New York Racing Association (NYRA) has announced shipping incentive programs at Aqueduct Racetrack and Belmont Park for horsemen based at Fair Hill Training Center, Oaklawn Park, Gulfstream Park, and Tampa Bay Downs.
Horses based in Fair Hill, in Elkton, Maryland, who register an official start during the Aqueduct spring meet, from April 5 through April 20, or during the Belmont spring/summer meet, from April 26 through July 7, will see their owners credited with an $800 shipping stipend, excluding stakes races.
A first-time starter must have their previous three workouts at Fair Hill to be eligible. NYRA reserves the right to determine eligibility for qualified starters, with each prospective eligible horse needing to demonstrate a pattern of works at Fair Hill in order to be considered based at the training center.
The Fair Hill incentive is complemented by "Ship & Win" programs for horsemen based in Florida or at Oaklawn Park, in Arkansas.
Horses that made their previous start at Oaklawn Park may be able to take advantage of a "Ship & Win" program, which includes a 30 percent purse bonus for their first two starts as well as a $1,500 shipping stipend for a start during either the Aqueduct spring or Belmont spring/summer meets, excluding stakes races.
Additionally, horses who made their previous start at either Gulfstream Park or Tampa Bay Downs may be eligible for a shipping subsidy for a start during the Aqueduct spring meet, excluding stakes races.
Owners who ship horses from Florida and make their first start from March 8 through March 31 will receive $2,000, while horses shipped in from the Sunshine State and make their first start from April 5 through April 20 will be credited $1,500.
First-time starters do not qualify for either the Florida or Oaklawn Park program. NYRA reserves the right to determine eligibility of qualified starters.
