Sunday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $62,293 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s nine-race card.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $4,152.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Saturday’s live racing program at Aqueduct Racetrack was cancelled due to high winds and significant rainfall forecast to create hazardous weather conditions in the New York metropolitan area.
Friday's sequence kicked off in Race 4 – a seven-furlong $14,000 claimer on the main track for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward – when the Maddy Olver-piloted Boss Lady Kim [No. 7, $34] powered home to a 6 1/4-length score for owner/trainer James Frangella, Jr.
Trainer Linda Rice saddled Blue Plate Special [No. 10, $7.30] to victory in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden event for New York-breds 3-years-old and upward in Race 5. The son of Kantharos was piloted by jockey Jose Ortiz.
Joel Rosario found the winners’ circle in Race 6 – 1 3/16-mile turf allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward – aboard Avenue Niel [No. 6, $6.60*], who made her second start in North America for trainer Christophe Clement.
Kara Para [No. 8, $22.20] captured Race 7 – a starter allowance going a one-turn mile for fillies and mares 3-years-old and upward over the main track – for trainer Jim Ryerson with Dylan Davis aboard.
Race 8 – the featured $125,000 John Hettinger for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-years-old and upward going nine furlongs on the inner turf – saw Lawrence Goichman’s Runaway Rumour [No. 3, $15.20] capture her third career stakes victory. Jose Lezcano piloted the Linda Rice trainee.
With a carryover already guaranteed in Race 9 – a six-furlong outer turf test for juveniles – the Clement-trained Apollo Ten [No. 3, $9.40] graduated at second asking.
Sunday’s Pick 6 will kick off in Race 4 at 2:39 p.m. Eastern and includes the $125,000 Bertram F. Bongard in Race 8. First post for the nine-race card is 1:05 p.m.
