The New York Racing Association announced that beginning Saturday, October 1, horseplayers will once again be able to experience the thrill of tournament play with the return of live money "Low-roller" tournaments at Belmont Park.
With a $40 entry fee, $10 going to the prize pool - with 70% awarded to the first-place finisher, 20% to second, and 10% to third - and the remaining $30 comprising an entrant's bankroll. Participants must select five races at Belmont on which to place live $2 win, place, and show wagers, that must be placed on five different horses.
Returning on an 11-race "super" Saturday card that includes five graded stakes - the Grade 1, $500,000 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic; the Grade 1, $400,000 Beldame; the Grade 1, $350,000 Vosburgh; the Grade 2, $300,00 Gallant Bloom; and the Grade 3, $200,000 Pilgrim - Low-roller tournaments will be routinely offered at Belmont during weekends through closing day on Sunday, October 30.
