NYRA to offer free admission to Belmont Park for active and retired military personnel on Memorial Day

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced that all active and retired military personnel will receive free admission to Belmont Park this Monday, May 29, Memorial Day.
Active and retired military personnel will be asked to present proper identification at the admissions gates. Headlining Monday’s special holiday card is Big Apple Showcase Day, a series of six New York-bred stakes that includes a pair of $200,000 races in the Critical Eye Handicap for fillies and mares 3-years-old & up at 1 1/16 miles, and the Commentator Handicap for 3-year-olds & up at the same distance.
Gates open at 11:30 a.m. and first post is 1 p.m.
For added convenience, NYRA has partnered with Vet Tix to provide free Belmont Park admission in advance of Memorial Day. All branches of active-duty Military as well as Veterans and the immediate family members of those killed-in-action can visit https://www.vettix.org and sign up for an account and to view the available offers.
NYRA reminds all fans that small coolers containing food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted in the backyard and in the trackside Top of the Stretch picnic area at Belmont Park. Coolers larger than 12" x 6" x 12" are permitted only in the Top of the Stretch. Outside alcoholic beverages are permitted only in the Top of the Stretch.
