Pick 6 carryover of $47K into Saturday’s card at Belmont Park
by Keith McCalmont
The Pick 6 on Saturday will be bolstered by a $47,777 carryover as the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday at Belmont Park.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $589.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Friday’s sequence began in Race 5 with Kenner [No. 5, $22] upsetting a six-furlong New York-bred maiden sprint for 2-year-olds. Ruben Silvera piloted the winner for trainer Jamie Ness.
Princess Fawzia [No. 4, $7.70] captured Race 6, a seven-furlong optional-claimer on the Widener turf for fillies and mares. Hall of Famer John Velazquez was in the irons for trainer Linda Rice.
Jose Ortiz guided the Bill Mott-trained Godolphin homebred Nostalgic [No. 4, $20.20] to an impressive maiden score in Race 7, a 1 1/16-mile trek for juvenile fillies over Big Sandy.
Javier Castellano guided Stolen Holiday [No. 4, $10] to victory in Race 8 for fellow Hall of Famer Shug McGaughey ahead of an impressive gate-to-wire score by Rustler [No. 10, $44] under Kendrick Carmouche for trainer Dane Kobiskie in the featured Carle Place in Race 9.
With the carryover already guaranteed, the Rudy Rodriguez-trained Bali’s Shade [No. 3, $7.10] persevered down the lane under Jose Lezcano to close out the sequence in a six-furlong maiden sprint for state-bred juveniles.
Saturday’s Pick 6 kicks off in Race 5 at 2:43 p.m. Eastern and will include the Grade 3 Noble Damsel in Race 8 and the Grade 2 Hill Prince in Race 9. First post on the 10-race card is 12:35 p.m.
