NYRA announces Belmont-Woodbine Pick 5 for Saturday

The New York Racing Association, Inc. announced today a Belmont-Woodbine Pick 5 wager for Woodbine Mile Day this Saturday, September 16.

The multi-race wager will include four graded stakes overall, including the Grade 1, $800,000 Ricoh Woodbine Mile, the Grade 2 Canadian and the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf - at Woodbine - as well as the Grade 2, $400,000 Sands Points at Belmont Park.

The sequence will start with the Canadian, which has an approximate post time of 4:30 p.m., followed by Race 7 at Belmont with a projected 4:41 p.m. post, the Northern Dancer at 5:34 p.m., the Sands Point at 5:45 p.m. and culminating with the Woodbine Mile and an expected post time of 6:39 p.m.

Belmont Park Live airs on Saturday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. ET providing live coverage and analysis of the Grade 2 Sands Point from Belmont Park as well as special coverage of the Grade 2 Canadian and Grade 1 Northern Dancer from Woodbine. Saturday's show will be broadcast on MSG+ as well as regional FOX Sports networks including FOX Sports Prime Ticket and FOX Sports San Diego.

The pool will be hosted by Woodbine and will feature a low takeout rate of 15 percent and a minimum wager of 20 cents. The wager will be listed as "XC Pick 5."

The 21st edition of the Woodbine Mile will feature a competitive field of 12 vying for an automatic entry to the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile at Del Mar on November 4. Leading the group of contenders is Deauville, the 2016 Grade 1 Belmont Derby winner, and the 5-2 favorite.

The 23rd running of the Sands Point for 3-year-old fillies contested at 1 1/8 miles on Belmont's inner turf will feature a trio of entries for trainer Chad Brown, including graded stakes-winner Fifty Five, as well as multiple graded stakes winner La Coronel for trainer Mark Casse.
