Saturday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a Late Pick 5 carryover of $240,923 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s nine-race program. Additionally, there will be a two-day Pick 6 carryover of $123,936 after the multi-race wager went unsolved for the second consecutive day.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $541.03 to bettors who selected 4-of-6 winners correctly.
Friday's Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 4 with a win from Mozambique [No. 8, $19.64] in a 6 1/2-furlong New York-bred maiden special weight with Christopher Elliott aboard for trainer Rudy Rodriguez.
To commence the Pick 5, trainer Kenny McPeek sent out the next winner with the Hall of Famer Javier Castellano-piloted Siyouni Flash [No. 9, $20.16] capturing an inner turf 1 3/8-mile maiden special weight, in Race 5. The next race saw Elliott visit the winner’s circle again aboard Sweet Montreal [No. 5, $24.44] in the New York-bred $150,000 Joseph A. Gimma for trainer Jim Ryerson, in Race 6.
In Race 7, a six-furlong allowance for New York-breds, Elliott achieved a riding triple by navigating Accelerated News [No. 9, $11.08] to victory for trainer Melanie Giddings. In Race 8, a 1 3/8-mile allowance optional claimer on the inner turf, Mayor of Midnight [No. 6, $19.18] rallied to the line with Eric Cancel up for trainer Chad Brown.
With the Pick 6 carryover guaranteed heading into the Race 9 finale, a six-furlong claimer on the outer turf, the Rodriguez-trained Blown Cover [No. 5, $84.86] prevailed with Jose Gomez in the saddle, who was the only horse left uncovered in the Late Pick 5 sequence.
Saturday’s Pick 6 will kick off in Race 6 at approximately 3:38 p.m. Eastern and includes the Grade 3 Winter Memories [Race 8]. The Late Pick 5 begins one race later in Race 7 at approximately 4:10 p.m., with first post for the 11-race card at 1:10 p.m.
