NYRA cancels live racing on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack
The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced the cancelation of Saturday’s live racing program at Aqueduct Racetrack due to arctic temperatures and sub-zero wind chill values forecast to impact the New York metropolitan area throughout the day.
As previously announced, NYRA has also shifted Sunday’s live racing program to Wednesday due to a powerful winter storm expected to bring heavy snowfall to the region.
Saturday’s featured $135,000 Interborough will be brought back for Friday, February 6, with entries to be taken on Saturday, January 31.
Aqueduct Racetrack will remain open for simulcasting on Saturday but closed to the public on Sunday. Online wagering is available via NYRABets.com.
The Aqueduct winter meet, which spans January 1 through Sunday, March 30, is highlighted by the one-mile Grade 3, $300,000 Gotham, providing 50-25-15-10-5 Kentucky Derby qualifying points. The Gotham Day card, slated for Saturday, February 28, includes the Grade 3, $175,000 Tom Fool for 4-year-olds and up going six furlongs, the Listed $150,000 Stymie at one mile for older horses, and the Listed one-mile $200,000 Busher for 3-year-old fillies, offering 50-25-15-10-5 Kentucky Oaks qualifying points.
