NYRA cancels live racing Thursday at Aqueduct
The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has canceled live racing on Thursday at Aqueduct Racetrack due to a powerful storm forecast to bring extremely high winds and heavy rainfall to the New York City metropolitan area.
Current weather forecasts are calling for wind gusts exceeding 40 mph and up to 2" of rain as a result of Thursday's storm. The NWS has placed Southern Queens under a coastal flood advisory beginning at 1 p.m.
Aqueduct Racetrack will remain open for simulcasting, and wagering is available via NYRABets.com.
Live racing is slated to resume on Friday at Belmont at the Big A with a nine-race card featuring a pair of Listed $150,000 stakes with the Tempted in Race 2 and the Pumpkin Pie in Race 8. First post on Friday's card is 1:05 p.m.
The Pick 6 carryover of $34,908 will move to Friday's program, beginning in Race 4 at 2:27 p.m.
On Friday, Aqueduct will be open for simulcasting from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate the Breeders’ Cup Future Stars program from Del Mar.
