Gary Stevens and Laffit Pincay, III to make FOX Sports debuts
The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will team with Oaklawn Park to host a Cross Country Pick 5 for Monday's Presidents Day card, highlighted by the Grade 3, $500,000 Southwest for 3-year-olds at Oaklawn and the $100,000 Hollie Hughes at Aqueduct Racetrack.
All the action will be shown on a Presidents Day edition of FOX Sports Saturday At The Races, airing 5-6:30 p.m. Eastern time on FS2. The holiday broadcast will feature the FOX Sports debuts of analyst and Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens and Laffit Pincay, III.
Monday's sequence will begin with two races at Aqueduct, starting with Race 7 [post time of 3:56 p.m.] and the 41st running of the Hollie Hughes for New York-breds in Race 8 at 4:27 p.m. The third-through-fifth legs will feature three races at Oaklawn, starting with the Grade 3, $200,000 Bayakoa at 5:09 p.m.; the Grade 3, $500,000 Razorback Handicap for 4-year-olds and up at 5:38 p.m.; and the 54th running of the Southwest at 6:09 p.m.
Stevens, who registered 5,187 wins and totaled purse earnings of more than $258 million in a career that started in 1979 and concluded with his retirement in 2018, will join host Greg Wolf and fellow analyst Paul Lo Duca in studio from Los Angeles.
Pincay, who has covered Saratoga's Grade 1 stakes, the Breeders' Cup, and multiple installments of each Triple Crown race for NBC Sports, will be reporting live from Oaklawn.
The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is also available on track, on ADW platforms, and at simulcast facilities across the country. There will be a mandatory payout of the entire pool.
