Saturday’s
10-race card at Aqueduct Racetrack will feature a Pick 6 carryover of $24,874
after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s nine-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $1,184 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 horses correctly.
The sequence began in Race 4 with Bavarian Creme [No. 8, $5.60*] drawing off to a 4 1/4-length victory under Dylan Davis to graduate for conditioner Mark Hennig. The Linda Rice-trained Movie Moxy [No. 4, $6.80] then posted an easy starter allowance victory under Jose Lezcano in Race 5.
Race 6 saw the biggest upset in the sequence as the Lynn Cash trainee Steinbeck [No. 1A, $19] rallied to victory under Jaime Torres to defeat post-time favorite Nova Rags by 1 3/4 lengths.
Apprentice rider Madison Olver engineered a winning ride aboard Baba [No. 4, $13.80] for trainer Oscar Barrera, III in Race 7, one race before Bold Journey [No. 7, $7.20] earned the third victory of his career with Eric Cancel up for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.
With just two horses covered in the final leg, the Charlton Baker-trained Phoebe’s Frosty [No. 3, $12] lost ground at the top of the stretch but re-rallied gamely on the inside under apprentice rider Jason Huayas to trigger the carryover in Race 9.
Saturday’s Pick 6 sequence begins in Race 5 [2:16 p.m. Eastern] and features the Grade 3, $250,000 Withers, which awards 20-8-6-4-2 Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top-five finishers, in Race 9 [4:27 p.m.]. First post is 12:20 p.m.
