Saratoga Race Course to host inaugural Corgi Cup on Sunday, August 10

It’s the cutest show on dirt! The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will host the inaugural Corgi Cup, featuring short legs, big personalities and plenty of puppy power, on Sunday, August 10 at historic Saratoga Race Course.
48 Corgis have been registered by their owners to take part in the competition, including reigning champions from similar events hosted by multiple professional football teams.
Two qualifying rounds featuring four heats of 12 Corgis each will take place on the main track after the third and fifth thoroughbred races of the afternoon. The top three finishers from each heat will advance to the championship round to comprise a 12-Corgi field that will go to post after the seventh race at approximately 4:55 p.m.
All races will be televised live on FOX Sports (FS1).
Corgis will sprint 40 yards to the finish line with the champion celebrated during a ceremony in the winner’s circle and awarded the inaugural Corgi Cup.
To supplement Sunday’s Corgi Cup, Lucky Puppy Rescue of nearby Argyle, NY, will be on-site with adoptable dogs, providing fans the opportunity to meet potential new furry family members and begin the adoption process. Lucky Puppy Rescue has placed 2,000 dogs in safe, loving homes since opening its Argyle adoption center in 2019.
Meanwhile, beginning August 10, NYRA will introduce Saratoga Sundays Specials, a new weekly initiative offering reduced pricing on select food and beverage items every Sunday for the remainder of the summer meet.
Highlighted by the 156th renewal of the Grade 1, $1.25 million DraftKings Travers on Saturday, August 23, the Saratoga summer meet continues through Monday, September 1. Racing is conducted five days a week, Wednesdays through Sundays, apart from closing week, when the 2025 summer meet will conclude on Labor Day.
